Keep up to date with the latest carnival news!

The history of the Association can be traced back to 1826.  After the closure of the Naval Dockyard in Deal the towns people started to become restless. A great number of dock workers and sailors with very low spirits living locally became a worry to the local Council, they saw a need to raise interest and attract people into the area and came up with the Deal and Downs Regatta. At this time, all the events were water borne and the press of the time reported that they were a tremendous success, with what was described as ‘a very colourful display out on the sea’.

The Day of the Deal Carnival is filled to the brim with activities for all ages. You won’t be bored with events going on all around the town. The Carnival starts at 7pm and starts at Walmer it then continues along the Walmer Green, up to the seafront, past Deal castle where it then carries along the seafront down to Sandown. .

All of the floats in the carnival are all local businesses, visitors from outside of the town are more than welcome to join. Every year, there are over 50 entries including over 30 floats all designed and made for the entertainment of the carnival.

The week of the carnival is filled to the brim with events and entertainment, from our famous Lorry Pull, to the Dinosaur 10k run. There isn’t an event you want to miss during the week! The week doesn’t just support the carnival it helps with the well being of the community and brings in tourism from surrounding towns to boost the economy.

If you’re not from Deal, you might not be familiar with the town. Deal is a very popular tourist destination and is very proud of its heritage. We have the newly opened Kent Mining Museum as well as a very entertaining Roman Landings Adventure Golf. There is plenty of Hospitality and accomodation to cater to everyone throughout the week.
